The Library has 5 sewing machines and one embroidery machine in the Maker Studio available for reservation.

Sewing Machines

The Library has five Janome brand sewing machines that you can reserve in the Maker Studio. The sewing machines may be reserved without certification training, but you must be able to show us that you can thread and operate the machine.

Embroidery Machine

The Library has a Brother USA brand embroidery machine, which is a computerized machine that can embroider fabric. The Brother machine uses built-in embroidery designs and fonts to monogram home décor items, garments, and accessories. 

You can embroider fabrics up to 3mm thick. Denim and leather cannot be used with the Brother Machine.

To create your design, you can use a free design from the Brother USA Design Guide, which come pre-loaded onto the machine. Designs can also be purchased from the Brother USA web store, or Etsy. However you get your design, it must be in a .pes file format.

The following brands of embroidery floss may be used with the embroidery machine. Sewing machine and hand embroidery thread cannot be used with the embroidery machine.
