Teens Space Gaming

The Teen Space is available for use during library hours, this includes use of the 3 gaming computers in the room, a PS5, Xbox Series X, and two Oculus 3s. Our PS5 and Xbox Series X both have two controllers so teens can play with a friend.

The gaming computers can be used with or without a library card. Teens without a library card can simply go up to the Adult & Teen Services desk when they come in and ask for a guest pass. To rent the PS5 and Xbox Series X controllers or one of the Oculus 3s, a teen must have a library card on file, or they can use their parent/guardian's library card with permission. The PS5 and Xbox Series X must be played in the Teen Space, as the consoles are set up there. The Oculus 3s can be taken to other parts of the library for use, but cannot go outside the building.

There may be times where we restrict how much time one person can have a gaming system checked out, but if that is the case the teen will be told at that time. Our Teen Space has a maximum occupancy of 12 people, if this is exceeded while a teen has a gaming system rented out, we will check how long it has been in use to make sure everyone is getting a fair amount of time in the space. If noise levels become too high because of gaming, warnings will be given as a courtesy to the other library users. Should the excessive loudness continue, the teens may be asked to return the controllers.

Get Your Game On!

On the third Friday of every month, we offer the Get Your Game On! program for teens and tweens from 6:15 pm to 8:15 pm after the library closes. Those who attend are welcome to bring their own gaming devices like Nintendo Switches and tablets, but the library also provides our own Nintendo Switch consoles and PS5 for group gaming at this program. Pizza is also provided to the attending teens and tweens. Parents are welcome to drop their children off or stay for the duration of the program. Please check out the Teen Calendar for the next Get Your Game On! event, registration is required as it is an after-hours event.
